Being true to self and others, makes you feel good about yourself. Makes you genuine and authentic. We carry our memories with us everywhere in day-to-day actions we take, like memories of childhood bullying to the boardroom today. Memories from our past experiences becomes our unconscious baggage, in everything we do or not do. Some memories from past creates joy and laughter even today.

Whether we realize, what we are doing or not,  this bagage can prevent us from being our true authentic self and moving forward in our personal and professional lives. The average person has about 48.6 thoughts per minute (i.e. 70,000 thoughts per day), according to the Laboratory of Neuro Imaging at the University of Southern California. It takes hard work to consciously try to get rid of the emotional baggage but it is worth the effort.

I realized when i was speaking to someone the other day that it took me some time to recover from the loss. When i lost my father i was determined to get through it without tears to show my family that I am holding them strong. Emotions exist to drive us forward and help us take action, i did not realize it then. Emotion plays an important role in how we think and behave.

We all reach times in our life where we don’t know what the next action is that we should take. Many of the answers we seek are found in between the emotions we have to feel in order to take action. Emotion helps us survive, thrive and avoid danger according to Naturalist Charles Darwin.

When our stories hold us back we withdraw ourselves from our surroundings. We fill ourselves with self-doubt. There is a constant feeling of rejection creeping within and building up by itself with false assumptions.  Feeling stressed and not letting it out can lead to it building up and causing mental health problems too.

Letting go has nothing to do with weakness, and everything to do with strength. We let go and walk away not because we want the universe to realize our worth, but because we finally realize our own worth. We live through our stories, learn and move forward. Some circumstances and people come into our lives just to strengthen us or teach us, so that we can move on without them.

Don’t let what you can’t do stop you from what you can. Do what you can with what you have right now. Stop overthinking and start doing. Don’t kill people’s dream with negative words, and don’t put up with those who do. Once you are comfortable in your skin, not everyone will like you, and that’s OK. It’s always worth doing what’s right and being true to yourself.

You have rough days. I have rough days.

It’s okay to Let go.
